If you live in the suburbs and want to go to downtown Chicago on the weekend, METRA (the commuter rail service) has an unbelievable deal for you. Pay just $5 for a pass that is good for the weekend. And, you can bring up to three children age 11 or younger with you at no added cost. Here's a link to their schedule information.
If you are 65+ and live in Cook, Will, DuPage, McHenry, Kane or Lake county you can ride METRA, Pace, and the CTA for free any day of the week if you have a senior reduced fare card. If you don't have a card, you can apply for one at any one of 270 locations. Visit the RTA's web site for more information.
